Our next meeting is on MARCH 5th at 7pm in the Pavilion and we will welcome Professor Hugh Cunningham who will speak on Dickens & Philanthropy. Dickens is well known as an advocate for social reform, but he is often scornful of “do-gooders” in his novels. Professor Cunningham is an Emeritus Professor of Social History at the University of Kent and author of several books on changing attitudes to children and childhood.
The full Fellowship programme for 2025 can be found here.
The Dickens Declaimers have also published their programme for 2025 and it can be found here.
The Dickens Declaimers performances of "A Christmas Carol", in December 2024, at the Salvation Army Hall in Ramsgate and the Pavilion in Broadstairs attracted over 100 attendees and raised over £500 for the Salvation Army and the NSPCC. You can see reviews and photos here
